Biography
William was born in 1866. The 1881 census said he was born at Gavinton but other records say he was born at Langton. (It is equally possible that the Gavinton / Langton confusion stems from someone's bad handwriting!) William was the son of Peter Drummond and Mary Clazie.
There is yet more confusion because two William Drummonds were apparently both born about 1866 in the same area: one was the son of Peter Drummond & Mary Sherry Edwards Clazie; the other was the son of David Drummond & Isabella Clazie. [1]
William's parents were listed on his birth record (4 Jul 1866) as Peter Drummond and "Mary Sheriff Edwards Clegg" (possibly some transcription errors in mothers name?) [2]
