Edmund Duke gave testimony on 17 Jul1705 as a subscriber to the grammar school at William and Mary, saying that the barring of the masters from the school in a raucous incident was not accompanied by violence. Edmund Duke’s oath was taken before John Smith and John Lewis, but Henry Duke took many of the students’ oaths.[5]

Edmund Duke may be a brother, or possibly a son, of Col. Henry Duke. Duke’s role in establishing the school only a short time before lends credibility to this interpretation.

Profile locked (PPP) because of disputed claims concerning origins, parents & other relationships in the early American generations of the Duke family. PPP and co-management by US Southern Colonies Project requested by James Dukes, who is involved in a Dukes Family DNA study seeking to confirm and/or debunk these conflicting claims, and approved by the US Southern Colonies Project Coordinator for Managed Profiles.

ps- be careful with death place of "Albemarle"... there's Albemarle County plus an Albemarle Parish. From https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:US_Southern_Colonies_Project_Needs_Location_Research -
Please include "County", "Parish", "District", etc. in the datafields as appropriate if you know that the location being referred to is the county, parish, district, etc. Doing so helps ensure the accuracy of our profiles, since the same name can be used for, say, county and parish, with the two locations in different parts of the colony. For example, Albemarle Parish served Sussex and Surry Counties, which today are a couple of counties away from the North Carolina border and the James River, while Albemarle County is a couple of counties away from West Virginia (see this Wikipedia map of Virginia).

edit - got my parishes confused... just one Albemarle Parish, but Albemarle County has a parish that is sometimes confused with a different parish of the same name (St. Anne's Parish).

William Duke (Duke-1370) and Edmund Duke (Duke-1360) have the same birth and death dates and locations listed. Could these be the same person? No sources shown other than a family tree.
