DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
Durham-3448 and Durham-3278 appear to represent the same person because: I believe these are the same man. Discrepancies are birth date/place. I have found the 1850 Census which says that William was born about 1776 in Tennessee. So, I'm thinking the date is correct in Durham-3448 and the place is correct in Durham-3278. They married the same person, although she also needs to be merged (Marshall-17785 and Marshall-16858), which I will do next. I have seen 3 Tennessee State Marriage records in one Ancestry profile for William Durham. Two of them say he was married on July 15, 1808 and one says he was married on July 13, 1808. I guess we can decide which one to use!
