1964 - ISLAND FALLS -- Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dwyer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday (10 May 1964) with open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at the home of their granddaughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hartin, assisted by Mrs. Harriet Campbell, Mrs. Ruth Whitney and Mrs. Beulah Nye.
Many friends and relatives call to extend congratulations and the honored couple received many cards, gifts and a money tree.
The Rev. Ernest Ireland, pastor of the United Baptist Church, offered prayers to the family members and guests.
Refreshments were served, which included a four-tier decorated cake made by Mrs. Richard Porter, Sr.
They are the parents of four children: three daughters, Mrs. Vinal Whitney, Mrs. Clayton Campbell, Mrs. Merritt Nye; and one son, Noel Dwyer, all of Island Falls; they have eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Dwyer were born at Orient, Maine and were married at Weston, by Justice of the Peace Varney Putman, who had officiated at the wedding of Dwyer's parents. They have lived in Island Falls for over 50 years. [9]

Obituary

Harry Edward Dwyer, 76, of Island Falls, died May 20 (1969) at a Houlton hospital after a long illness.
He was born at Orient on January 30, 1893, the son of Edward and Olive Anderson Dwyer.
Surviving are one son, Noel of Island Falls; two daughters Mrs. Vinal Whitney of Island Falls and Mrs. Clayton Campbell of Crystal; three sisters, Mrs. Flora Main of Island Falls, Mrs. Kate Dwyer of Oakfield and Mrs. Lizza Fogg of Rockland; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
