John Dyer was born on 4 June 1767 in Falmouth, Maine. His parents were John Dyer and Dorcas (Weeks) Dyer^[1].

He married Mary Dearborn on 1 April 1790 in Gorham, Maine^[2]. They had seven children^[3]:
