Ward married Eunice Deborah Eaton May 13, 1819 in Cornwallis. She was the daughter of Elisha Eaton and Irene Bliss. Born July 14, 1798 and died May 13, 1874 at age 72 - he fathered 6 children. He is buried at Upper Canard Cemetery, Kings Co. [1]

Ward has been described as being dignified and courteous, when he passed away he was still of sound mind and considered to have an excellent intellect. His wife, first cousin, was described as having the attributes of nobility and conducted her household in a similar manner to that of Judge Elisa DeWolf and his wife in Horton.
Ward served as the Justice of the Peace in Cornwallis for a number of years and was the Clerk of the town. He was valued for his business skills and was sought out to arbitrate in matters of legal dispute. He had a reputation for secureing settlements in his cases before they came to trial.
Ward was considered to be a strong Conservative being reserved in speech. He is remembered to spend any amount of time in the pursuit of his political party goals. He was considered to be a close friend and advocate to his fellow Conservative leaders such as Judge Johnstone and was popular with other well known politicians who frequently at his home for advice and council.
