Biography

Birth William was born around 1770 in Louden County, Virginia.[1] His parents are Arthur Edwards (abt.1747-1805) and Ann (Turley) Edwards (abt.1751-1805).[2]

Move to Franklin County, Virginia William moves with his family to Franklin County Virginia where he witnessed his father's purchase of 342 acres of land on Mountain Creek on the waters of the Pigg River.[2]

Marriage William marries Nancy Ward on 16 Dec 1799 in Bertie County, North Carolina.[3] The marriage produces:

  • Martha Ann Edwards born 12/25/1806
  • Louisa Edwards born 7/1/1809
  • Charie Edwards born 1811
  • Richard Edwards born 1813[1][2]

Move to Tennesse William moves to Nashville, Rutherford County, Tennessee by 1806 when their oldest daughter, Martha, is born there.[2]

Disappearance' Around 1817 William got on his horse, rode off and never came back. It was thought that he had sold a slave, had not been paid and went off to find him.[2]

Death The date and place of William's death aren't known. Family history from bible records and recorded family history compiled in the 1950s report that he passed away in 1812.[1] but, as moted above, other reports indicate that he left one day around 1817 and never came back. He was declared dead in 1824 in Rutherford County, Tennessee and his wife Nancy was appointed administrator of his estate.[2]
