Ellis Eugene was born in 1917. He married Ruth Eudine, sometime around 1939. The Terre Haute, Indiana, city directory for 1939[1] lists the couple residing at 2001 Seabury Avenue. Ellis's occupation is listed as station attendant. The census of 1940,[2] records that Ellis (23) and his wife Ruth (20) are living at 2001 Seabury, in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. The are renting a home for $5 per month. Ellis is employed as an attendant for a service stateion and worked 70 hours the week before the census. He worked 52 weeks in 1939, earning $520. Ellis completed the 2nd year of high school. Ruth completed the 8th grade.

Ellis completed his WWII Draft Card on the 16th of October, 1940. [3] He was 23 years old. He described himself as being 5' 10" tall, weighing 145 pounds with a dark complextion, gray eyes and black hair. He was employed by the Self Texaco Service Station, located on 17th and Hulman Street in Terre Haute, Indiana. Ellis enlisted in the army on the 19th of April, 1944.[4] His civil occupation was listed as "Skilled switchmen, railroad". Ellis was discharged on the 13th of April, 1946.[5]

In 1950,[6] Ellis (32) and Ruth (30) are living at 153 South 19th Street in Terre Haute, Indiana. Ellis is a yard switchman for the railroad and worked 50 hours the week before the census. Ruth is caring for the 1 year old son whom thy named Michael Eugene.

Ellis Eugene died on the 9th of December, 1985, at the age of 68. The cause of death was carcinoma of the lungs which he had been suffering from for 2 years.[7] At the time of his death he was working for the Milwaulkee Railroad. He was buried in the Fairview Cemetery, in Elnira, Daviess County, Indiana.[8]
