Biography
John Melchoir (Melker) Jr. was born probably after 1782 in Rowan County, North Carolina, the son of John Melchoir Eller and his wife (and first cousin) Susanna Eller daughter of Christian Eller.
He grew up in Rowan County, North Carolina, and was probably married there. He is said to have married four times, but the name of only his last wife is known, Dorothy Kesler. He was the father of the following children, mother(s) not known:
- Christian
- Charles (about 1805-after 1850), married first to Sophia Lentz; married second to Polly Lentz; married third to on 29 Oct 1826 to Sophia Brown
- John Melchoir (Melker, Michael) III (28 Apr 1811-27 Jun 1898), married about 1835 to Cloah (Chloe) "Glory" Eller (daughter of Jacob Eller and Maria (Mary) Eller
- Michael (Christian?) (23 Sep 1815-17 Jan 1896), married Mary Frances Boggs
- Jacob
He was buried probably in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina.[1]
