    Book of Deeds, Liber I, page 221. Jacobus Van Elmendorp, will dated 1685 Aug 27 and writen in Dutch.
    His wife shall have the whole estate for life, if unmarried. If she should marry, only one half of the property, the other half to go to the children; Coenraedt, Gertie, Anna, Jacobus, Jenneke, Tekla, and after her death, all to go to the children.
    My son Coenraedt shall have my land called Wassemaker's land, with the 4,000 schepels of wheat, and if his inheritance should not be large enough, my wife may dispose of sufficient for the purpose, except that all what is over 1,000 schepel of wheat shall belong to her.
    My paternal inheritance in the old country shall be equally divided, but my youngest daughter, called Tekela, shall have, in advance, 100 hollandish gulden.
    If Coenraedt shoud die without issue, his brother Jacobus shall have the same interest in this will as Coenraedt. Signed Jacobus Van Elmendorp & Grietien Elmendorp.
    Witnesses: Jan Hendrix, Gommert Powlissen.
    1699 Nov 30 Will proved by John Hendrix of Kingston before Justices of the peace: John Ward and John Herrmans. All witnesses not being present, I have moved to the widdow and relict of said Jacobus Elmendorf & his heirs, vis. Coenraedt Elmendorp, Mattyse Wynkoo, husband of Gaertie Elmendorp, Jacobus Elmendorp and Jenneke Elmendorp, whom answered they approved of it.

    • Note: Her husband here is misidentified Mattyse Jansen is the name of her sister Ann's husband. Evert Wyncoop is her husband. There is no Mattyse Wynkoo at play here.
