Biography

Arientje was born in 1733 in Gravesend, New York, the daughter of Jan Emans and Neeltje Van Aaken. Not named in her father's will dated 1732, so was a child yet to be born. She would have been raised by her mother and step-father, Edward Robeson. She married Jacobus Parmentier/Parliamenter. She died in 1793 in Dutchess County, New York.[1]

"Ariantje Emens was baptized on 2 December 1733 at First Reformed Dutch Church, Jamaica, Queens Co., Long Island, New York.[3]

"She married Jacobus Parmentier, son of Peter Parmentier and Helena Van de Bogart, at First Reformed Dutch Church, Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Co., New York, on 13 August 1748 (date of banns) Jacobus Palmetier, y.m., born at Poughkeepsie, living at Poughkeepsie, and Ariantje Emens, y.d., born on Long Island, living at Poughkeepsie. "Witnessed the baptism of Adriana Palmontere , daughter of John Parmentier and Mary Jurry, on 26 February 1786 at Reformed Dutch Church, New Hackensack, Dutchess Co., New York, (sponsors Jacobus Palmontere, Adriana Palmontere).[4]

"She is called Adrian in her husband's will of 27 July 1791. Named as executrix. Will dated 27 July 1791 "Jacobus Palmontere of Poughkeepsie Town," life use of estate to his wife Adrian. The legacies to children Jacobus, Adrian, Peter, Mary, Catherine. Residuary legatees: children Eleanor, Elizabeth, Sara, John, Jacobus, Adrian, Peter, Mary, Catherine. Names wife Adrian as executrix. Wits.: Hendrick Pels, Jr., Evert H. Pels, Elias Duboys. Amos Canfield.[5] [6]
