Marie Jeanne Charlotte Falgout was born in 1745 in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, the 2nd child of Louis Marcel Falgout and Marie Jeanne Castan.

In 1762, at the age of 17, she married Nicolas Louis Barbe, son of Louis Barbe and Marie Marguerite Gatelet. They had 7 children:
