Louis Marcel Falgout is the progenitor of the Louisiana Falgoust and Falgout families.
He was born in 1712, in Langeais, Touraine, France, the third child and second son of Pierre Falgout and Catherine Courault.[1][2][3]
Around 1738, he immigrated to New Orleans, Louisiana, and settled in St. Charles Parish.
In 1742, he married Marie Jeanne Castan, daughter of Joseph Castan and Claudine Volmar, in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana.[4][5]
They had 10 children:

The St. Charles Parish Original Acts, transcribed by Glenn Conrad, contains many entries for Louis Marcel, most pertaining to property. There are two entries which give us clues as to when he died. It appears that he died between 6-29-79 on which date, he was the attending physician for one Thomas Brouce who died, and 6-13-1780 when his now re-married widow petitioned the court to settle his estate. An entry in the St. Charles Original Acts documents that Thomas Brouce owned nothing but a horse which was sold to Jacques Rixner for 16 piastres and which was handed over to Dr. Beaumont for the treatment accorded the dead man. [5] Entry No. 359 dated 6-13-1780 is the Sale of the Community Property of the Late Falgoust dit Beaumont and His Widow: "Widow Falgoust is presently married to Joseph Macaux and petitions that she be allowed to sell the community property existing between herself and her first husband, Falgoust dit Beaumont. Petition granted." The farm was sold to Pierre Brou dated September 12, 1781.[5]
In another entry when Marie-Jeanne Castan, widow Macos died, these heirs of Louis-Marcel Falgoust dit Beaumont were named, including 6 living children and 1 child who died but left 2 heirs: Louis, Charles, George, Jeanne-Charlotte (widow of Louis Barbay), Marie-Agnes (wife of Jean Lignac), Jeanette (wife of Jean Pares), Marie-Antoinette (deceased, the wife of the late Pierre Richoux and mother of Pierre Richous (18) and Célézie Richoux (22). [5] Andre, Marie Barbe and Marie Catherine must have died without leaving heirs.
From the genealogy.com surname forum for Falgoust:
  • (1712-ca.1778) LOUIS-MARCEL FALGOUST Born at Langeais in Touraine on the 17th day of January 1712.His Godfather was Louis Courault, his great-uncle, the tonsured cleric. His Godmother was Renee Massaule, his great-aunt and wife of master surgeon, Guillaume Barrere. Beyond his baptism there are no additional church records on Louis-Marcel at Langeais. When he was 14 years old his father worked at the nearby village of Amboise and it’s possible he grew to young manhood there. Because he was a younger son, his brother Jean being the elder and heir, he would have been expected to make a decision between the priesthood and a profession. It’s presumed he obtained his early education in a religious school, most likely by the Jesuits, the principal teachers of young me at the time. Since the Jesuits were firmly established in the Louisiana Colony, it’s likely they made an impression on him in his early years.
