Biography

Son of Thomas E. Fanning and Sarah Ann "Sallie" Doak.

Served in Company K, 15th Regiment Texas Cavalry during the US Civil War.

Married Martha "Sallie" Chambers in 1865. Had at least 4 children.

Married Christina Renfro in 1877. Had at least 12 children.

Died in 1903.

Research Notes

A note on his brother Nathaniel's memorial claims that their father dropped the "G" from their surname (i.e. changed from Fanning to Fannin) upon moving to Texas. ( Freeth-52 14:11, 20 April 2016 (EDT) )
