Much of the information about Benjamin Faulkner comes from secondary and tertiary sources. According to Carrington, Benjamin was born on December 17, 1714, the son of Thomas and Mary Faulkner of King and Queen County, Virginia. He was married twice and from his first marriage, there were three children[3] These children were Jacob, Esther and John.[4] Jacob married Catherine Howerton.[5] Esther married, first Walter Chiles and second to a Carnal.[6]

Benjamin’s second marriage was to Francus Johnson.[7] From this “...marriage there were eight children, three sons and five daughters.”[8] These children were Johnson, Sarah, Jane, Elizabeth, Susannah, Joseph, Josiah, and Kitty.[9] Joseph married Nancy Oakes,[10] Catherine “Kitty” married Samuel Easley,[11][12] Sarah married John Brooks,[13][14] Jane married Major Wyatt,[15][16] Johnson married Jane Jones,[17] and Susannah married Drury Easley.[18][19]

Although it is not known when Benjamin came to Halifax County, he “,,,was in Halifax county in 1780, as we find from the census of that year, in which he was listed as head of family of ten (whites) and eleven (saves).”[20] His will is dated October 20, 1783, with a codicil dated November 20, 1783. On July 15, 1784, Benjaman’s will with the codicil was proved in court. According to the application of William Wilkerson Jr. for the Sons of the American Revolution, Benjaman died on July 13, 1784.[21]
