I am Ojibwe-French from Belcourt, North Dakota as were my grandparents, and parents. My ancestors originally were Europeans mostly from France but also Scotland and England who emigrated to Canada for the fur trade (Northwestern and Hudson Bay) and married Native Ojibwe, Cree women. Their children, my ancestors, were therefore Métis/Michif. My ancestors and myself are children of the Canadian fur trade. My ancestors traveled from Red River Canada to the North Dakota plains (Turtle Mountains) hunting buffalo. I have an extensive family tree on Ancestry.com now but am always researching to add more information on my ancestors.
