Biography

Thomas Figgis was born about 1814 in County Dublin, Ireland. He was the second son of William Figgis and Maria Holmes.

He went to sea as a sailor.

After migrating to Van Dieman's Land (Tasmania, Australia) he was taken onto the crew of the Raven. making multiple voyages between Launceston and Port Phillip District, New South Wales (Victoria, Australia) in the late 1840s.

Aged 57 years, Thomas married 36 year-old Anna Moore on 7th February 1874 in Launceston. [1]

Aged 69 years, he passed away on 9th December 1883 in Launceston, Tasmania. [2]
