Alroy Flack was a Utahn.

Alroy Mortimer Flack was born to parents John Logan Flack and Emma Burchell on 22 March 1882 in Fairfield, Utah. He was the youngest of five children.

Later that year, Alroy marries Annie Jeune Carlisle on 6 September 1910 in Alpine, Utah as shown on their Marriage Certificate and Marriage License.[3][4]

On 1 July 1911, Alroy and Annie welcome their first child Leo George Flack at ages 29 and 19 respectively.[5]. Alroy's occupation is listed as a laborer.

On 12 July 1913, Alroy and Annie welcomed their second child and son Alroy Carlisle Flack, born premature. [6] Alroy's occupation is listed as a general laborer. In ensuing censes, Alroy Carlisle is often seen as "Raymond" despite his birth certificate.

On 6 December 1914, Alroy and Annie had their third child and son, Burchell Flack.[7] Alroy's occupation is listed as an attendant at a state mental hospital. Unfortunately, Burchell dies at one month old from "acute pneumonia - bronchitis" on 15 Jan 1915 as indicated on Burchell's death certificate.[8]

In 1917, Alroy registers for the World War I draft as seen on his Draft Registration Card.[9] He and his family are living in Magna, Utah. He is working as a molder for Utah Copper Company. His description is tall and slender with brown eyes and hair.

His name appears on a Utah Militia List around 1917-1918 and his occupation is listed as a mill man.[10]

37-year-old Alroy lived in Alpine, Utah in the 1920 census with his family. He is working as a laborer[11]:

On 27 December 1925, Alroy passed away from a sudden heart attack according to his Death Certificate at the age of 43.[12][13] He was laid to rest in Alpine City Cemetery, Plot D-03-05-01.[14]

Research Notes

1900 Census: Alroy's father, and three older siblings, are absent from this census. Possible death of the father and marriage for the siblings?

Burchell Birth/Death Certificate: Discrepancy in spelling of Burchell's name. Birth Certificate listed "Burtchell" and Death Certificate lists "Burchell". Since Burchell is a family name, it's more than likely it is the correct spelling.

Alroy Carlisle vs. Raymond Carlisle: Discrepancy on birth certificate and 1920 census with Alroy's second son's name. Why different? Where did "Raymond" come from?

Death Date: Multiple sources including Death Certificate show a 27 Dec death date. Although his obituary and headstone list 28 Dec. The possible discrepancy could be due to him passing away the night of the 27th, and early morning on the 28th; the Death Certificate shows he died at 4 am.

Thank you for posting such an interesting family tree. My Flacks probably came from Co. Fermanagh in Ireland. Do you have any clues as to where in Ireland your Flacks came from?

Mine came from Antrim, Ireland or thereabouts. My line stems from James Flack and Ann Baxter who came from Ireland back in the 1600s and settled in Pennsylvania. Most of the US Flacks stemmed from them and their children. I definitely recommend checking out the Flack Genealogy site if you haven’t already. There’s thousands of Flacks in there. You can find the link under “See Also” with sources.
