Biography

Samuel Fogg was born in Cheshire, England.

Samuel was born about 1843 in Sutton near Macclesfield. He was the son of John Fogg and Mary Cadman ^[1]

Samuel lived with his parents and siblings in Sutton near Macclesfield, Cheshire in 1851 ^[2] and 1861, when age 17 he was working in a Silk Factory. ^[3] In 1871 the family had moved to the Castleton area of Rochdale, Lancashire and was age 27, employed as a Letter Carrier. ^[4]

In 1879 he married Betsy Riding in Oldham. Betsy was a widow with two children, previously married to James Whittle. ^[5]
In 1881 they were living in Bleasby Street, Oldham. They had a daughter Hannah age 2 as well as Betsy's son Thomas and daughter Mary Alice. Samuel was working as a General Labourer. ^[6]

Samuel and Betsy had five children before he died on 18 October 1889. ^[7] He was buried in Oldham on 21 October 1889 age about 45. ^[8]
