Biography

William Fogg was born in Lancashire, England.

William was born about 1887. He was the son of Samuel Fogg and Betsy Riding. [1]

William's father died in 1889 and in 1891 he was living with the family in Newton Street Oldham.[2] On 28 February 1899 William, along with his mother Betsy and younger brother Richard were admitted to the Oldham Workhouse as his mother was sick.[3] In 1901 in Overens Street, Oldham, with his widowed mother and siblings. He was now 13 and worked as a Cotton Doubler. [4]

In the 1911 census William 24, Bricklayer Labourer, was in HMP Cheetham, Manchester, Lancashire [5]

Research Note

Have found a 1921 census which fits William and his brother Richard at 6, Court 11, Rochdale Road, Oldham, Lancashire. William has a wife and 3 children, however I have not found any of these children on GRO. Will need some further research.
