Obituary

DEATH OF A VERY OLD IDENTITY. Another very old identity of Bowen in the person of Rebecca Kyle, relict of the late John Kyle passed away early on Wednesday morning at her residence, George Street at the age of 82 years. Deceased born, in Ireland and came to in Australia with her husband, in the sailing ship “Maryborough” in the early sixties, landing at Bowen. They went to Adelaide Point where they were employed for six years by the late J. G. Macdonald, after which they took up land on the other side of the Don River and went in for farming at Mayflower, where they resided for many years. They afterwards moved across the river to Willow Bank, where they also resided for many years. She leaves one son and 5 daughters, numerous grandchildren and a good many great grandchildren to mourn their loss, her husband having predeceased her 22 years ago. The late Mrs J Kyle was a fine old lady, one of those stout-hearted women of the bush who battled along cheerfully very often under most adverse circumstances. They were noted for their open-hearted hospitality and possessed that fine homely spirit of the early pioneers, who paved the way to civilisation. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Robertson (Church of England) performing the last sad rites at the graveside. [5]

Hi TR,

Thanks for reaching out, Yes I have Robert & Eliza on my main tree on Ancestry. Which of Rebecca's brothers do you mean? I only have Robert who married Jennie Gilchrist and Thomas who married Rachel Kyle, I always though she may be a cousin to John bit haven't been able to prove it.

Which of Jane & Williams children do you descend from? I have a DNA Match to one of Jane's descendants through her daughter Ann & James Speer.

My self and another descendant of John & Rebecca (Foster) Kyle are working together to piece the family together and using DNA to help. Would love to collaborate and share info.

Call me Terry Sorry I mis-typed, yes, Thomas and Rachel (Kyle), you have this on myheritage too. :) You can look up my tree under TR Davis (myheritage.com/site-family-tree-744973301/davis). I am just starting to fill it out and learning as I go. I documented each direct descendant through actual birth and marriage, so if you need records let me know. :) terry (at) photomining.com

Anne Speer was my g-g-grandmother, her daughter was Rebecca, then Mary, then my mother Beverly. I am currently stuck on Eliza Foster's maiden name. But I will find it eventually. :)
