Biography

Ernest Roger Verdun, the youngest son of Celia and Jack Fraser was born in 1916, during WWI.^[1] Ernest married Mavis Annie Plank,^[2] a widow with three daughters, but having no children of their own, Ernest and Mavis adopted two boys - Peter Richard and Thomas John - both being born in Taumaranui.

After the family left the King Country, Ernest worked at the new port of Mt. Maunganui for many years until his retirement, when he and Mavis bought a house in Mangakino.

Of his sons, Peter married Leslie Dawson, a widow with a 13-year old daughter and an adopted son, Shane Richard. Thomas married Georgina, also a widow, but with five children. So what nature did not provide, kindness and big heartedness did as Ernest and Mavis could happily claim many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
