Wyatt Bailey Freeman is in the 1850 Census for Macon County, Tennessee and was born around 1837 or 1838. His parents were Richard and Ellen Freeman. His siblings in descending order are Charlotte, Catherine, Richard, Sarah, Nancy, and Caroline.

By 1860, he was married to Catherine Marsh and was still living in Macon County, Tennessee. The couple had two daughters born after the civil war Sarah Catherine Freeman and Mary Ellen Freeman

Wyatt enlisted in Scottsville County, Kentucky as a private on the Union side during the U.S. Civil War in Company E, Tennessee 1st Mounted Infantry Regiment. He mustered out as private on 22 Jul 1865.

His burial location and death date remain unknown. By 1870 his wife Catherine and children were living with her in-laws Richard and Ellen, indicating Bailey died sometime before 1870 but after daughter's birth in 1867.

There was a Civil War pension request made on behalf of his daughter Sarah on July 3, 1886.
