"GABRIEL. - Dec. 13, 1902, at his residence, Eastside, East Kempsey, Macleay River, Dr. Charles Louis Gabriel, aged 83 years. R.I.P. "

Obituary: The Macleay Chronicle, 18 December 1902:

Death of Dr. C. L. Gabriel.
The death of Dr. Gabriel, which took place on Saturday last, was not altogether unexpected. As indicated in our last issue, a sudden change occurred on the previous Sunday, up to which time he had been apparently in his usual health. In the evening it was noticed by members of the family that his mind had become clouded, and he shortly afterwards relapsed into unconsciousness, in which state he remained almost until the time of death. Arriving on the Macleay in the year 47, Dr Gabriel led an active and useful life, beloved and respected by all who knew him. During the early years of his life on the Macleay, communication between Kempsey and the lower parts of the Macleay was carried on mostly on the river, a hardship which improving conditions have almost obliterated. The deceased was born at St. Pierre, Martinique, and had reached the ripe age of 83 years. He married Miss Roda Rudder in 1854, by whom he had 14 children, six of whom predeceased him. Dr Louie Gabriel, of Gundagai, and Theophile arrived from Condobolin, and were present at the funeral, which took place on Monday last, the remains being taken to the Catholic church where a solemn requiem mass was celebrated by the Revs. Father Hanley and Kiely. The mortal remains were afterwards conveyed to the East Kempsey Cemetery, a very large procession attending to pay the last tribute of respect.

Hi John

I have proposed a merge of Gabriel-1825 into Gabriel-648. Could you please approve the merge? Gabriel-1825 and Gabriel-648 represent the same person because: they have the same wife. Thanks from Heather
