Benadam Gallup son of John Gallup and Hannah Lake was born at Stonington in 1655. He married Hester Prentiss, daughter of John and Hester Prentiss, and granddaughter of Valentine and Alice Prentiss of New London, Conn. He and his nephew, John Gallup, who married Elizabeth Wheeler, lived on the eastern part of his father's land grants, known as the Pe-quot-se-pos Valley. They jointly built and occupied the dwelling house, where an
old chimney thereof now stands (1899) which with their lands, is now mainly owned by the heirs-at-law of Hiram W. Wheeler and Lodowick Wilcox. He served in the colonial wars. They both united with the First Congregational Church of Stonington. He died Aug. 2, 1727; his wife died May 17, 1751.[1]
He was buried at White Hall Graveyard, Mystic. In addition to the inscription: "Here lies y body of Benadam Gallup died August y 2nd 1727 in y 72 year of his age", his Memorial has a photo, and links to those of his parents, his wife and all seven of their children. Here is another Headstone photo.
