Biography

John Gardener was born 14 August 1652 in Woburn, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay He is cited as the son of Richard Gardner and Anna Rolfe Blanchard. They married 18 August 1651.

In a will dated 15 March 1696/7, Richard Gardener bequeathes "to only son Henry, his son John, to children of daughters Hannah Coddington, Ruth Gypson, daughters Hester, Abigail, Rebecca, and Mehitable, grandsons....,

It is surmised that John may be the son of Thomas Blanchard (d. December 1650/51), but was born after Anna's marriage to Richard.

Research Notes

If Anna was newly pregnant at the time of Thomas Blanchard's death, he could have been the father of John, however John's birthdate is actually 14 August 1652. This would mean they married a few days after John's birth 18 August 1651.

There are no known sourced spouses, children, or death dates for John. There are other John Gardners in Woburn at similar time frames, son of John, Henry, and others. In 1696, he evidently had no children.

2nd generation Descendant of Henry Rolfe of Newbury

Gardner-3194 and Gardner-1393 appear to represent the same person because: Dates, parents match. Hadley didn’t exist in 1652
