Frederick Garling was born in 1833. He was the son of Frederick Garling and Elizabeth Ward.
Frederick joined a survey party in 1861, to Queensland, to lay out the township of Bowen and led by his cousin Clarendon Stuart
Frederick Garling "the father of Bowen" passed away there in 1910.
