Biography

Michael Garvey never married. He arrived in Australia from Ireland in about 1874. Michael Garvey died in a mining accident from a fall of rock on to his abdomen at a mine in Gympie, Queensland. He lived for abuot 30 minutes before he died. A magisterial inquiry was held three days after into the cause of death.

Michael Garvey's death was certified by "Michael Garvey his second cousin in Gympie, Queensland". He was buried in the general cemetery at Gympie, Queensland, on the day he died in a Catholic service.
