Biography

Nathaniel and Beulah Gates Tyler first appear in the 1820 census in Whitestown, Oneida County, NY. They live three houses away from Nathan S. Gates, believed to be Beulah's brother.

Nathaniel came to Oneida County from Vermont with his father Moses about 1800.

The will of Caroline Gates, daughter of Joseph Gates and Dulcena Stewart, 1897, Utica, Oneida, NY mentions "my cousin Job Tyler". Job can only be her cousin if her father Joseph and his mother Beulah are siblings, both the children of Joseph Gates II and Jane Brockway.
