Biography

Mentioned in his father's will dated 18 Apr 1783: to John's "four younger sons" John, Christopher, Paul and Abner, he gave "all my homestead land and all my salt meadow to be equally divided among them".^[1]

Marriage

After intentions were entered in Sandwich on 19 May 1792,^[2] and also in Conway on 18 Oct 1792.^[3]

Census

In the 1800 census in Conway, Mass., Christoper Gifford is enumerated with a household containing 3 children under 10, probably himself and wife Mercy both shown as aged 26-44, and an older couple aged over 45. The next enumeration appears to be his brother, Paul Gifford, with 5 children under 10, 1 female under 15, and presumably the married couple age age 26-44. ^[4]
