Biography

Albert B. Gilbert, son of William A. Gilbert and Lodema Alice Robinson, was born in Village Township, Van Buren County, Iowa, United States, in about Feb 1873.^[2] He was the eldest of his parents' seven children, his junior siblings being Dora, born in 1875,^[3] Bertha, born in 1877,^[4] Augustus, born in 1880,^[5] Roscoe, born in 1882,^[6] Arthur, born in 1884,^[7] and Guy, born in 1888.^[8]

In 1880, Albert lived with his parents and siblings, Dora, Bertha and Augustus, in Village Township, Van Buren County, Iowa, where his father was a farmer.^[9] Residing immediately next door were Albert's maternal grandparents, Braxton and Maria Robinson.^[10]

Albert's brother, Augustus, died in Village Township, 14 Dec 1880, at age seven months.^[5] He lost his 82 year-old maternal grandfather, Braxton Robinson, there, five days later.^[11]

In 1885, Albert remained in Village Township with his parents and siblings Dora, Bertha, Roscoe and Arthur.^[12] Albert's widowed maternal grandmother contined to reside immediately next door.^[13]

Albert married Emma R. Davis 28 Sep 1891 in O'Brien County, Iowa.^[14] He passed away in 1957 and is buried Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon.^[15]
