Biography

Genealogically Defined

Sarah was born about 1792 in Littlebourne[1][2], Kent, England and was baptised 29th July 1792 at St. Vincent, Littlebourne, Kent, England, the daughter of Richard Giles & Sarah Giles.[3]

On the 8th July 1809, Sarah, of Ripple married Thomas Batchell of Waldershare, Kent, at St. Mary the Virgin, Ripple, Kent, England.[4]

Thomas & Sarah were removed from St. Dunstun's, Canterbury, Kent to Wingham, Kent on 1st January 1820 "Removal of Thomas & Sarah Bachel and their 6 children: Thomas aged 10, Richard aged 8, William aged 5, Caroline aged 4, John aged 18 months and Robert aged 8 months from St. Dunstans, Canterbury to Wingham. Wingham being last legal settlement."[5]

Sarah, the wife of Thomas Bachell, farm labourer, died aged 76 years on the 24th August 1864 at Shatterlin [sic], Staple, Kent, England. She died of Gastric Fever (10 days). Informant: Ellen Shaxted, present at death.[6]
