Crawford Gillespie was enumerated as head of the household in Justice Precinct 3 Round Top & Carmine towns, Fayette County, Texas for the June 25, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as a R. R. section boss and born January 1858 in Arkansas. He had been married for seven years. Also included in the household are wife Claudy Gillespie, daughter Jenny Gillespie and son Joel Gillespie as seen in an image of the original census.^[1]

Crawford Gillespie was listed as the father of Gillespie who was born July 4, 1903 in Carmine, Fayette County, Texas. The mother was listed as Claudie Gillespie.^[2]

Joseph Crawford Gillespie was listed as the father of Len Randolph Gillespie who was born May 21, 1906 in Carmine, Fayette County, Texas. The mother was listed as Claudia Avesta Thigpen.^[3]
