Biography

John Gillespie was born in about 1762 in Rowan County, North Carolina, USA. He was the youngest of ten children of Thomas Gillespie and Naomi Thompson Gillespie. According to Thomas Gillespie's Will in 1797, he had a son John Gillespie.[1]

There was a John Gillespie, who married Margaret Kerr on Jan 31, 1786 in Rowan County, which was witnessed by W. Cupples.[2] He may have also married Margaret Kerr (1769-1843) in Rowan County on Jan 31, 1786. It is reported that he died in about 1825 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.[3]
