He married 1st Francis Breazeale on 11 May 1826 in Greene County, Alabama. [1] In 1830, he was living in Greene County, Alabama.[2]

By 1845, he was living in Neshoba County, Mississippi.[3]
He married 2nd Ann McMahan before 1843. In 1850, he was living with Ann in Rankin County, Mississippi.

Note: There is a William L. Gilmore on the 1860 census in Clarke County, Alabama, born 1800 in South Carolina. Some Ancestry trees list him as William Lewis Gilmore. This individual married Susannah Fluker in 1830 in Clarke County and remained in Clarke County. This appears to be a different person. Most Ancestry trees are listing Lewis Gilmore of Greene County, AL and Neshoba County, MS as William Lewis Gilmore. I cannot find a source to verify William as his first name.
