Ruth was born in 1909. She is the daughter of John Goolsby. Ruth Mae Goolsby was born on September 11, 1908, in Mississippi, her father, John, was 30, and her mother, Mary, was 27. She had one son with Newell Thurman Williams in 1942. She died on October 14, 1994, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 86.
