Biography

John Alpine was born in 1853. He was the son of George Gorton and Mary Lan. He passed away in 1860.[1]

John Alpin Gorton passed away at the age of 6 years and 11 months after suffering for 6 days with cynanche trachealis, commonly known as croup. He had been attended to by Patrick Walsh Mallon.

John Alpin left behind his father, three brothers and his mother, who was pregnant with her fifth child, Joseph Lewin. He was buried two days later in the Church of England Cemetery, Stroud. The officiating minister was Samuel Simm. There is no headstone to mark his burial.
