Biography

John Gough Jr was born in Appalachia, in Virginia (now West Virginia).

John Wesley Gough, Jr was born 8 Dec 1918 in Grafton, West Virginia. He was the son of John Wesley Gough and Dora Minerva Hathaway.

1920 U.S. Census John W Gough (age 49) and his wife Dora (age 45) are in Taylor County, West Virginia with their children: Nina B (age 17), Everett (age 15, spelled Evert) ,Adren (age 10, spelled Adrian) and John W (age 1). They own their home. All were born in West Virginia. All except John Jr speak English. John and Dora can read/write. Nina, Everett and Adren are in school. John Sr is a farmer. [1]

1930 U.S. Census John W Gough (age 58) and his wife Dora (age 54) are living on a farm in Taylor County, West Virginia with their son John W (age 11).They own their home and have a radio. All were born in West Virginia. All can read/write. Age at first marriage: John - 21; Dora-17. John Jr is in school. John Sr is a farmer. [2]

John Wesley Gough married Melba Nadine Richards in 1951 at Taylor County, West Virginia. [3]


He passed away at age 76 on 25 Feb 1995. He is buried in West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, Taylor County, West Virginia.[4]
