Biography

Violet Powell Noland,[1] daughter of Ludwell Powell Noland (1859–1929) and his wife Arilda Catlett (1854–1929),[2] was born in West Virginia in February 1897.[3]

Two of her sisters were Velda and Erra Noland.[4][5]

She married Bernard Elbert Gray (1888–1982)[1] in Tucker, West Virginia in 1921.[6] Bernard was born in Massachusetts.[7]

They were living in Scarsdale, New York in 1940.[7]

Violet Noland Gray authored Genealogical history of Robert Beheathland, gentleman : one of the founders of James Towne, 1607, and his descendants through his daughter Mary, covering the years from 1607 to 1976, published in 1978.[8]

Violet died in Sarasota County, Florida on 30 Apr 1992. Her husband had died in 1982. They are buried at South Church Cemetery, Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts.[1]

Violet Noland Gray is the author of the Beheathland Family and it contains a great deal on our Noland ancestors. I have a copy of a great deal of the book. Noland 588.
