Biography

Violet Powell Noland,^[1] daughter of Ludwell Powell Noland (1859–1929) and his wife Arilda Catlett (1854–1929),^[2] was born in West Virginia in February 1897.^[3]

Two of her sisters were Velda and Erra Noland.^[4][5]

She married Bernard Elbert Gray (1888–1982)^[1] in Tucker, West Virginia in 1921.^[6] Bernard was born in Massachusetts.^[7]

They were living in Scarsdale, New York in 1940.^[7]

Violet Noland Gray authored Genealogical history of Robert Beheathland, gentleman : one of the founders of James Towne, 1607, and his descendants through his daughter Mary, covering the years from 1607 to 1976, published in 1978.^[8]

Violet died in Sarasota County, Florida on 30 Apr 1992. Her husband had died in 1982. They are buried at South Church Cemetery, Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts.^[1]
