Biography

Jane (Greenlees) Smith was an early resident of the Scottish Settlement at Argyle, Illinois.

Jane was born in 1841. She was the daughter of Robert Greenlees and Mary Mitchell. ^[1]

She came to the US with her family in 1850 when she was eight years old. ^[2]

The family settled in Harlem Township, Winnebago, County Illinois, ^[3] where they were part of the Scottish settlement in Argyll Illinois

In 1859 Jane married John Smith. ^[4]

They farmed in Burritt Township, Winnebago County. ^{[5][6][7][8][9]}

In 1920 she lived in Winnebago. ^[10]

Jane passed away in 1929. ^[11]
