Biography
John was born about 1744 in Prince William County Virginia. He was the son of James Grimsley and Ann Unknown.
John married Hannah Roberts (born 1745 in Culpeper County, VA) and they had four children Barnett Grimsley, born 1770 in Culpepper, Madison Co., VA; died 1819; Daniel S. Grimsley, born 1772 in Culpeper Co., VA; died 1835; William Grimsley Rev., born 1783 in VA; died 1860 in near Rock Mills, Rappahannock Co., VA., and Cary Grimsley.
He passed away most likely in Fauquier County, Virginia in about 1814.
Notes
His mother's maiden name may have been Lofton.
