James Guy was born on Dec 31, 1742 in either Augusta County, Virginia or perhaps in England. He owned and operated a mill near Scotts in Western Iredell County. He married Isabella Wasson. He owned seven slaves in 1790. He died on Apr 6, 1813 in Scotts, Iredell County, North Carolina.[1]
Revolutionary Service
James Guy fought as a Captain with the Rowan County Regiment, North Carolina Militia (Salisbury District) during the Revolutionary War.[2]
