Elizabeth Haislip was born in Fluvanna County, Virginia about 1820-1822 to John Haislip.[1] Her mother's identity is not clear, but it was not John's last wife, Lucy, as we know from the court case which ensued upon his death.
Elizabeth and Leforce had several children:[3][4][5]
Powhatan A. Maddox, b. 1846
Pocahontas Maddox, b. abt. 1848
Monsieur L. Maddox, b. abt. 1850
Victoria Maddox, b. 1852
Elizabeth Maddox, b. abt. 1856
Christopher C. Maddox, b. 1859
Census data indicate that around 1849 the couple moved to Oldham County, Kentucky, that around 1860 they moved to Missouri, and by 1870 were in Hancock County, Illinois.
No record of Elizabeth after the 1870 census has been located.
Research Notes
Where was the 4 yr. old Elizabeth in the Upper Loutre census?-she's not listed. Did they leave her with relatives? Or is she a relative's child?Juedeman-1 12:22, 30 December 2015 (EST)
Currently, this is about all I know about this family-such curious names. Makes me wonder what Leforce's background was? French? Native American? Was it common to name children after Native Americans at this time?Juedeman-1 11:52, 30 December 2015 (EST)

Elizabeth's mother might be Rene Napier (see http://www.revwarapps.org/w11232.pdf , mentioning some sort of conditional marriage bond which seems to perhaps relate to John's father John's first marrying Caty D.)
EDIT: no, it must be more complicated than that... Rene Napier is a guy who married someone else entirely... sheesh. weird.
