Biography

(Biography copied from his burial memorial) Levi made his way to Roane County, TN via Georgia following the Civil War. He was a tailor for the Union Army, sewing uniforms at a factory in Cleveland, TN. He was the patriarch of seven children, some of whom are buried in the same cemetery but their graves are unmarked. Upon his death the following was recorded in the minutes of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church: “…we mourn the loss of our dear brother L.W. Hall who came to his death the 8th day of February 1879 causing much grief and deep mourning such as none can tell except those who has bin (sic) bereaved of a husband, a father, a brother, a beloved and zealous doctor, and charitable citizen. The church being left without a deacon and clerk."
