Biography
"The Barnes Family in West Virginia" (1920) says "Mary Ann Barnes, wife of Abraham Barnes, died June 4 1865, from smallpox, contracted while caring for a stranger who stopped to stay all night and was too sick to travel next morning, having a mild case of smallpox. She was buried in the old orchard under a large apple tree that stood where one of the kilns of the Fairmont Brick Co. is now located. When the Brick Plant was located, her body was removed to the Maple Grove cemetery at Fairmont."
