1834 Samuel Halliday is baptised on the 30th of March at Holy Trinity Church in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, England. He is the son of Joseph Halliday and his wife, Jane Dickinson. [1]
1841 He is living in the hamlet of Burley at the time of the census. [2][3]

1854 Samuel marries Martha Melsome of Rodborough on the 28th of June at Holy Trinity Church in Brimscombe. They both sign the register and the witnesses are Henry and Harriet Wilkins. Martha is the daughter of John Melsom, a butcher. [5]
1886 Samuel Halliday dies on the 21st of August 1886 at Wall's Quarry aged 52 and is buried 4 days later at Holy Trinity Church in Brimscombe. [6][7]

BRIMSCOMBE DEATH OF MR SAMUEL HALLIDAY,—We are sorry to have to record the death of Mr Samuel Halliday, of Wall's Quarry, Brimscombe, who was well known in the neighbourhood and greatly respected. Although Mr Halliday had been ailing for some little time past. his illness was not such as to give cause for alarm, until a few days before his death, when a sudden change took place, and he sank very rapidly. His death, so unexpected, has caused great sorrow amongst his numerous friends and relatives. He was interred in Brimscombe Churchyard on Wednesday. The funeral was largely attended. [8]
