Biography
Unfortunately, Marine isn't on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial with her parents and two sisters. She was born at sea and debarked with them so she would qualify.
Martine Hamon was born 9 Oct 1785 at sea on the passage to Louisiana. Her parents were Ignace Hamon and Anne Josephe Bourg. When they reached New Orleans, the baby was baptised at St. Louis Church on 27 Nov 1785.[1]
- Martina LANDREMOND [sic], born 9 Oct 1785, baptized previously, baptismal ceremonies supplied on 27 Nov 1785. Sponsors: Martin NAVARRO, intendant, absent (proxy was Gilbert LEONARD) & Maria LEONARD (SLC, B9, 394).
She married Jean-Baptiste Leonard on September 09, 1804. [2]Together they had 3 children:
She died on August 27, 1821 in Thibodeaux, Louisiana
She died on 27 August 1821 in Thibodaux, Lafourche. A probate was held at the Thibodaux Courthouse the next day.[3]
