Biography

Hugh Thomas was born in 1864 to James Hanlon, Labourer aged 23 years, of Kilkenny, Ireland, and Susannah Hanlon formerly Gorman, aged 23 years of Co Donegal, Ireland. The birth was informed by James (his mark) Hanlon.

Hugh was a labourer and drover, living in Drayton and Pittsworth. He married Agnes Brady, daughter of Hugh Brady, in St Patrick's RC Church, Toowoomba in 1892. He was 27 years old, Agnes 23 years. The certificate lists his parents as James, Labourer, and Susan Gorman. Agnes parents are listed as Joseph Brady, Farmer, and Sarah Kelly. Witnesses to the wedding are Thomas Brady and Annie Brady.


At his death, he owned Allotment 5 of Section 4, in the town of Beauaraba.
