Biography
Leslie Hardes died young.
Leslie was born in 1920. He was the son of Frederick Hardes and Elizabeth Emma Childs. His birth was registered in Raymond Terrace, New South Wales, Australia.[1]
Leslie passed away on 3 Nov, 1929[2] in Newcastle Hospital, Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, aged 9 years.[3]
An inquest was held on 13 Nov, 1929 by Deputy Coroner W. R. Pickett, resulting in a verdict of "injuries accidently caused through colliding with another boy".[4][5]
"Colliding head-on with a playmate at Raymond Terrace School, on October 31, James Leslie Hardes, 9, received a fractured skull, two black eyes, and a rupture of a lung.
It was thought at first that he was not seriously injured, but three days after the accident he died in Newcastle Hospital.
Playmates at the inquest told how the boy collided with another. He recovered soon after the accident, and went home, to become ill."[3]
