Edward was born in 1746. He resided in Charlotte County, Virginia, and married Mary JOHNSON there. Her sister married his brother Maynard/Miniard.
He and his brothers Maynard/Miniard and David fought in the American Revolutionary War when Edward was taken prisoner by the British.
By 1778 these HARRIS families migrated into North Carolina - Wilkes Co & Burke Co.
Edward is said to have lived for a time in Buncombe Co, North Carolina.
About 1795 he migrated to South Carolina.
By 1820 he was living in Tennessee where he died.

The 1963 book "The Edward Harris Family - Its Lineage and Traditions" by Mrs. Marie (HARRIS) KEY (formerly of Corpus Christi, Texas) outlined his descent from HARRIS m=GOODMAN. DNA testing has since proven this to be in error.
